Fred J. Legebokoff

Legebokoff Fred Jan

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Fred J. Legebokoff.

Fred was born on May 20th 1935 in Glade, BC and passed away peacefully at Kootenay Boundary General Hospital on January 29th, 2021.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth; daughters Lisa, Ellen (Doug) and Patricia (Bill); grandchildren Nathan, Colin (Jytte), Siyani (Megan) and Alexander and great-grandchildren Emily and Kaiya; his sister Nettie (George) Barisoff and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John W. and Molly; in-laws Nick and Mary Plotnikoff; nephew Walter; brothers-in-law Harry and Ken; brother John and son-in-law Jerry.

Fred was a long-standing union member with Construction & Specialized Workers’ Union, Local 1611. He worked on many construction projects as a pipelayer in the Kootenays and Alberta.

Family, friends and faith were most important to him. He was very active in the community and sang with the Krestova Men’s choir and the Kootenay Men’s choir for several years.

May his soul rest in eternal peace in God’s Heavenly Kingdom.

The family is grateful for Dr. Smart’s care and would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for providing care for Fred. As well, the family would like to thank the Castlegar Funeral Chapel and Crematorium for their guidance and compassion during this time.

Also, thank you to everyone who has reached out to our family with phone calls and messages. We greatly appreciate the cards, food, flowers, words of sympathy and memories shared.

A celebration of Fred’s life will take place at a later date.
