Desabrais Dale

Dale Elias Desabrais passed away peacefully in his home, on October 7, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
For 20 years Dale proudly owned and operated Kootenay Pawn and Tool Sales before his retirement last year. You can also find Dale’s name in the Canadian Arm Wrestling Hall of Fame, as he was a world champion arm wrestler. In his younger years he was quite fond of car racing, that love for car racing turned into a love for Nascar in his later years. Dale also enjoyed travelling; Peurto Vallarta held an especially important place in his heart. However, family was the most important thing to Dale; his love will never be forgotten.
Dale is survived by his wife of 32 years, Heather Desabrais, children; Debbie (Grant) Wyman and Wayne (Fernanda) Desabrais, grandchildren; Kristeen, Wade, Jessica, Jennifer and Nicole, great-grandchildren; Kolby and Kaylee, brothers; Eugene and Wayne, sisters; Edna and Janice, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by parents Elias and Francis Desabrais and sister Drucilla Desabrais.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 am, at the Genelle Community Hall, 1205 2nd St Genelle, with Officiant Art Mercer. Everyone is welcome to attend. Alexandra Butts of Castlegar Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements. For those who wish a donation may be made in Dale’s memory to the BC Lung Association, www.bc.lung.ca/donate. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.

Heather and families,
I am saddened to hear of your loss. Unfortunately I’m all too familiar with losing a husband far too early. May you find comfort in family and friends that surround you at this time.
My love to you all.

Condolence from David Groener on October 17th, 2016 8:53 am

Dale and Heather are like Family to me. We grew up spending time together in Puerto Vallarta. Dale was one of the most generous people our family had ever met. My parents quickly became very close with Dale and Heather. I will miss Dale, and so will my entire family. Heather is a strong woman and will continue to do the things that they loved to do together.

If you told Dale 50 years ago that he would of lived this long he would of thought you were crazy 🙂 I will always remember my parents and Dale always fighting over who would pay the Bill after dinner in Mexico. We are having a baby girl in December, and I wish she could of met her Uncle Dale. But thankfully she can meet her Auntie Heather 🙂

RIP Uncle Dale, We will miss you

David, and the Groener Family
