1931 – 2017
With sad hearts the family of Rosa Mistica Fogolin announce her passing at Talarico Place on Sunday, October 29, 2017.
Rosa was born in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy on September 20, 1931 to parents Luigia and Giuseppe Fogolin, the youngest of five children. At the age of eighteen Rosa and her family emigrated to Canada eventually settling in Castlegar. Rosa first worked at Mt. St. Francis Nursing Home in Nelson, then at Palette Café and finally at Bob’s Pay ‘n Takit. It was during her many years at Bob’s that she became a fixture of downtown Castlegar. Rosa was known for her welcoming smile, caring manner and kind words.
Rosa was an active member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. She belonged to the choir and the CWL. Rosa enjoyed traveling, outings with family and friends, and frequent coffee dates. She liked gardening, knitting and celebrating and sharing her Italian heritage.
Rosa was predeceased by her parents, brothers Fiorenzo and Tarcisio, sister Fiorenza and brother-in-law Eugene Demeo. Left to mourn her loss are her sister Maria, nieces Lorraine (Stefan) Helgesson, Louise Demeo, nephews Michael Demeo and Tom (Heather) Demeo, great-nieces Christina and Michaela and great-nephew Thomas.
Vigil Prayers were said on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father Rafael Benosa on Friday, November 3, 2017, followed by the interment in Park Memorial Cemetery.
There are so many lives Rosa touched in a positive way and so many memories that bring a smile to everyone that knew her. There are lots of stories about how she made a difference or made someone’s day. Rosa was here…. and she was loved.
Arrivederci bella.
Arrangements were in care of Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
Offer Condolence for the family of Fogolin, Rosa

Diana Liddle (Franco)
My sincere condolences to the Fogolin family.
Rosa was always a warm and friendly lady, with
a huge and infectious smile. I remember times
when Yvonne Cristofoli and I would stop in at the
house on the way home from school for a short visit.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Dear Maria and Family,
I am so saddened to see your beloved Rosa has passed. I always remember seeing her and her friendly smiling face at Bob’s Pay n’ Tak-it during lunch from high achool or at an Autumn tea. Every time I would see her, she’d always ask how my 2 boys were and how old they were. Rosa was a local institution in herself. She will be sadly missed.
Rest well in Heaven, Rosa. You deserve it
Love & Sincerest Condolences from Michelle, Dave , Braeden & Jordan Cherrington
