Laura Verigin: She was like no other!
Years ago, when I visited our Doukhobor brothers and sisters in Grand Forks and Brilliant areas, I was invited to the John and Laura’s anniversary. The couple sat there with sparkling ‘honoured attention’ as they were lauded with many stories, tributes and songs. But, it was Laura who sparkled the most.
To the mundane tasks of everyday, and, to the broader issues of life, she brought a smile that would melt the glacier ice and a class that enriched all Doukhoborism.
After 90 years of service, she will be cherished and remembered. Rest in glory, Laura.
