1953 – 2018
After a long, but brave and courageous fight with cancer it is with broken hearts and deep sadness the family of Heather Ricard announces her passing. She was a faithful, kind and unconditionally loving Wife, Daughter, Mama, Sister, Sister in-law, Daughter in-law and Auntie. Heather Ricard was born on April 25, 1953 in Vancouver, British Columbia. On the morning of March 31, 2018 Heather made her beautiful voyage to Heaven surrounded by family and friends. She was predeceased by her son James Ricard in 2013, her mother Fay Roberts in 2014 and her father in-law Rick Ricard in 2015.
Heather will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband Al of 45 years, daughters Natasha and Joelle, daughter in-law Shelli, granddaughter Vienna and grandson Asher. Heather will also be missed by her siblings Sandy Leone, Murray Bell, Julie Ranger, David Summers and Peter Ubriaco, as well as a large extended family and all her friends.
Heather sincerely loved her family and friends, she was a kind and selfless person who was always giving to others. A passion of hers was cooking, baking and entertaining, her recipes were often sought after. She had a love for animals, especially the family dog Mia, she also enjoyed the view while sitting on her deck, her flower garden and camping with her family.
Heather is peacefully in Heaven with our James and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Her body has been made new and restored and the pain is no more. With all our hearts we love and miss you both. Although our hearts are filled with sorrow we will forever remember your love and legacy that you have left behind.
A special thank you to Dr. Scotland and the oncology department at KBRH as well as Dr. Larocque for all their exceptional care and constant support. Additionally, we would like to thank Castlegar Funeral Chapel for their kindness and help with the arrangements.

My heart is so heavy for you all. Heather was such an amazing woman. I am so grateful for my many fond memories I have of her. Heather’s laugh was contagious, her baking and cooking was addictive, her warmth was unbelievably comforting. I always felt I could completely be myself around Heather and could speak freely.
