With sad and heavy hearts the family of Rosemary Theresa Christensen announces her passing on November 20, 2019, blessed with 86 years of life.

Rosemary was born on May 15, 1933 to parents Mary and Andy Porter. Rosemary married Charlie Christensen on August 21, 1954 and they raised two children. Rosemary was a teacher and taught Grade One at Castlegar Primary School for many years.

One of her favourite pastimes was reading her book while enjoying her view of the Columbia River. Rosemary also loved spending time at the family cabin on Kootenay Lake in the summer and spending winters in Arizona.

She was predeceased by her husband Charlie and her nephew Bruce.

Left to mourn her loss are her daughter Karen (Ed Dillon), son Rick, grandchildren Shannon, Maggie and Laura Dillon; Wyatt Christensen, brother Andy (Betty) Porter, and nieces and nephews Doug (Denise), Holly (Derrick), Gordon, Jeff and Blair.

Cremation has taken place and at Rosemary’s request there will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosemary’s memory may be made to the Castlegar and District Public Library.

    So very sorry for you loss Karen. Your mother was a beautiful woman as you well know, and she was thought very highly of. It is sad to see her leave however enlightening knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now with your dad.

    Mrs. Christensen taught my boys, Jeff & Jay Fitz-Gerald, in Castlegar Primary School in the early 1970’s. She was always patient and kind. The children loved her. The school concerts were wonderful. She will be missed and fondly remembered.

    I was so saddened to hear of your sweet Mom passing, I truly loved my time with her as a CHW worker. I am blessed to have gotten to know her. She was a special lady❤️, May she RIP. Sincerely-Carol
