Stander was born on August 20, 1938, in Vancouver BC and passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on March 2, 2020, in Trail BC.

Stander is predeceased by his father Partap Singh Purewal, his mother Tej Kaur, and his brothers Joginder, Metto, and Nanj.

Stander is survived by his wife of 56 years Marilyn, sisters Nancy, Mindy and Karm, his children, Robby, Jim (Sylvie) and Jerry (Anna), grandchildren Brandon (Brooke), Stephanie (Shaun), Isaac, Casia, Nevannah and Izabela and great grandchildren Madelyn and Reuben.

Stan worked in the forest industry for all his career until early retirement in 1990. Stan’s passion in life was his family and to minister to all people. One of his greatest joys was the Sunday school bus ministry in which he was involved for over 20 years in New Westminster. In his younger days Stan enjoyed playing softball in the church league and floor hockey, especially when playing with the church youth group and later with his grandchildren. All through his adulthood he passionately studied and memorized the bible. Stan truly had an Evangelist’s heart and would share his faith respectfully with anyone who crossed his path. His passion for serving our Lord Jesus Christ was inspiring to all.

Stander’s Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Assembly, 602 7 St, Castlegar, BC on March 10, 2020 at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Park Memorial Cemetery in Castlegar BC. Castlegar Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Stan loved his family deeply and his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ above all else. He was a wonderful husband, Father, Grandfather and great Grandfather, he cared for and loved his family well.

He will be greatly missed!

Stan, was a kind and gentle soul by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed. I’ve known Stan for over 50 years, he was truly gifted with the wordings of the bible and wanted everyone to enjoy. He cherished his wife Marilyn and all his family and friends. Stay strong Marilyn, Stan is in good hands now and smiling down upon all of us. Until we meet again,

    Carol and Troy

I am so sorry to hear of Stan’s passing. I was lucky enough to have known his humorous side. My first invite to dinner at the Perwal house, and Stan offered me a pine float. I was presented with a tooth pick floating on water. I think of that often and smile. Hugs to the whole family.
